Have you ever lost yourself listening to Frank Sinatra, Gene Kelly, Louis Armstrong, Etta James, and a million other old classics? I often find myself wondering what it would be like to experience some of the times from the olden days. There is a certain class and elegance from the past that somehow we have forgotten to carry to now. I can sense it is coming around in its own way.
From the fashion, to the cars, to the music, to the way of formalities things just seemed to be a simpler time. Granted, we have so many more things we can discovered since then and have created, but maybe when we go out of our way to invent for simplifying, we are actually complicating our lives?
The things men and women used to wear weren’t nearly as showy as the fashion in today’s society, but they were every bit as gorgeous. Being well-kept was more of a normality then. In today’s society we have become accustomed to making comfy and lazy wear part of fashion. Taking away the art of how people got ready every day.
There are many things about our times that are wonderful but I know I long for some of the old classic things. The romance of it all. Perhaps hindsight is 20/20, but a gal can dream. To go and get a milkshake together as a date. To wear my pin curls and red lipstick with everything just right. To get into the old classic car. My date, my beau with his suave hairstyle with every hair in its place, and a very debonaire air about him with a glass of scotch in hand.
Remember those amazing musicians I listed earlier? Oh my, how they make me feel. Like walking on air. Light and happy and sexy all at once. Sophisticated and yet, innocent all at once. If I ever get married, I will be having a very interesting music playlist, I can promise you that! Listening to these legends, is something that makes me happy and takes me to a time I have never even been in.
Maybe that is the key, the way to go about it is to bring the wonderful things back. To add our own flair to this life. To bring all of the classic things back. I know I will start to do this in my life.
Simply,
Miss Shay
