Discuss Your Views on Religion

Disclaimer: These are just my personal thoughts in the moment. I am in no way, shape, or form interested in bashing anyone else’s beliefs or pushing my own onto others. I believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinions and beliefs and that me stating my OPINION, does not make me right or correct in any way. With that said, please enjoy.

I was raised in a Christian household, where we believe in God and Jesus and The Bible. However, my family never forced church due to the fact that we don’t believe that you have to go to any specific building to have faith. As well, my family was never judgmental of others just because they were different. So I grew up very accepting and respectful of others.

I believe in spirituality. There have been too many instances in my life for me not to believe there is something miraculous out there for us after this life or to think that we do not go on afterwards.

However, I also believe that any faith that would drive someone to hurt someone else, is wrong. Religion is difficult to understand. Everyone thinks it is black and white, but it isn’t. It is all about perception. People say “the bible states that being gay/ a non-believer/ etc is wrong” well the bible also says “to love thy neighbor” and it also states that wearing make up etc. and being vain is a sin.

I personally, do not want to be a part of anything that forces me to hate another person due to their own beliefs, loves, lifestyles, etc. I never want to raise my children to think that just because someone is different, means that they are bad. Now, there is a line to be drawn. When something that makes you different from me, physically hurts me or anyone else, then what you are doing is wrong.

Long story longer 🙂
I think that everyone should focus more on the way we treat each other on our time on this earth, rather than focusing on getting everyone to be the same. Because the reality is that we are all always going to be different. Difference is not the problem. It’s people unwilling to acknowledge unhealthy beliefs vs something that is genuinely a faith. Faith and religion are two completely different things. I am spiritual and I have faith in MY beliefs.

Now, I know what you are thinking. “Shay, you told us how you were raised, but you really haven’t shared what faith you actually currently believe in”. Well, there is a reason for that. I think that is something that is personal and private. I wanted to give you my outlook on religion and faith and beliefs without outing my own to leave open for attack. It’s not necessary. I hope you enjoyed this read and that you have an amazing day!

Simply,
Miss Shay
